The WIRE WORKS, founded in 1974, is a result of over 30 years of experience in wiring street rods and developing electrical products directly for street rod applications. Having attended the first NSRA Street Rod National in Peoria in 1970 and being one of the first 100 members of the National Street Rod Association (#90), Ron Francis has, for years, been aware that fellow rodders can use help with what is often one of the least understood phases of street rod construction ... the wiring system. Ron's goal to create a wiring system that is designed specifically for the do-it-yourself hobbyist that would make the task simple, AND with high quality components throughout was realized in late 1974 when the first Street Rod Wiring Harness went on sale. That introductory wiring harness was very basic, by the standards the WIRE WORKS wiring systems are known for today. It did, however, meet Ron's goals and served to prove that a wiring system could be offered in kit form for the do-it-yourselfer. Many of the original wiring kits are still in service today.
